Oculoplastics (Eye lid surgery and orbital/socket disorders)

Mr Parulekar is a national and international expert in paediatric oculoplastics. He has a very busy practice in the management of children's eyelid disorders, and has considerable experience in the treatment of ptosis (droopy eyelids), and rare conditions like blepharophimosis syndrome, eyelid colobomas and Marcus guun jaw winking ptosis. He has one of the busiest paediatric enucleation and post enucleation socket reconstruction practice in Europe, and attracts referrals from all over the UK and abroad.

He has conducted training workshops on Eyelid and Orbital disorders, Ptosis surgery, and Squints at several American Association of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus meetings (Orlando 2010, Vancouver 2016) and at the World Congress of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (Milan 2012, Barcelona 2015). He has lectured on children's eyelid disorders at the Sally Letson Symposium, Ottawa, and at the Pantheo Eye Centre and University of Nicosia, Cyprus. He delivered the Crawford lecture on Ptosis (droopy eyelids) at the Hospital for Sick Children in 2015, and was Visiting Professor at the University of Ottawa.

Lacrimal (tear duct surgery)

Mr Parulekar provides a comprehensive service for disorders of the tear sac and ducts, performing simple and complex surgery for blocked tear ducts and watery eyes, This includes probing, modern mono-canalicular tube insertion, dacryo-cysto-rhinostomy (DCR) surgery, giving a very high success rate, comparable to the best published series in the world literature.

Squint surgery

With a tertiary referral practice for simple and complex cases with squint, Mr Parulekar has developed an expertise in the management of disorders such as Duane syndrome, Brown syndrome, and Congenital Fibrosis syndromes. He is very proficient in squint surgery for nerve palsies, myasthenia and thyroid eye disease in children and adults, He has considerable experience in, adjustable technique squint surgery and fornix incision squint surgery which give excellent cosmetic results and maximise comfort after surgery, with excellent success rate.

Mr Parulekar has conducted workshops on squint surgery at the American Association of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus meeting in Vancouver 2016, and lectured in several countries, including Canada, USA, Chile, and India.
